If you are an employee with at least 2 years' continuous service, you are normally entitled to statutory redundancy pay when you are made redundant. The amount depends on your age, your complete years of service and your weekly pay (the average over the 12 weeks before your redundancy notice).
| Age during each full year of service | Pay per year |
|---|---|
| Under 22 | 0.5 week's pay |
| 22 to 40 | 1 week's pay |
| 41 or over | 1.5 weeks' pay |
This calculator estimates statutory redundancy pay only. Your contract or employer's policy may offer more (enhanced redundancy pay). For a binding figure, use the official GOV.UK calculator. Read the full guide: Redundancy pay: who qualifies and how much.
Statutory redundancy pay is 0.5 week's pay for each full year you were under 22, 1 week's pay for each year aged 22 to 40, and 1.5 weeks' pay for each year aged 41 or over. Service is capped at 20 years and weekly pay is capped at £751 for redundancies on or after 6 April 2026.
You normally qualify if you are an employee with at least 2 years' continuous service with your employer and you are being made redundant.
The maximum is £22,530, which is 30 weeks' pay at the £751 weekly cap (20 years of service at 1.5 weeks per year).
You have 6 months from the date your job ends to apply for statutory redundancy pay.
This calculator applies Great Britain statutory rates (England, Scotland and Wales). In Northern Ireland the 2026/27 weekly pay cap is £783 (maximum £23,490).
